About Willingboro
At a glance. Willingboro is a Burlington County township of 31,889 people (2020 census) covering about 8.1 square miles, with the ZIP code 08046. It was incorporated as a township in 1798.
History. Levitt & Sons built their third and largest Levittown here and sold the first homes in June 1958. Voters renamed the township Levittown in 1959, then changed it back to Willingboro in 1963.
Neighborhoods. The township is divided into sections called parks, such as Pennypacker Park, Millbrook Park and Garfield Park. Street names in each park start with the same letter as the park's name.
Schools. Willingboro Township Public Schools covers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, ending at Willingboro High School.
Getting around. U.S. Route 130 is the main road, with the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 295 nearby. The Willingboro Public Library anchors the Willingboro Town Center on Route 130.
Selling a home. Willingboro requires a certificate of occupancy before a home gets a new owner or occupant. Schedule the Department of Inspections' visual check at least 15 days before settlement. A heating system certification from a qualified technician is also needed, and failed items must be fixed within 30 days. New Jersey also requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
