About Delran
At a glance. Delran is a Burlington County township of 17,882 people (2020 census) covering 7.2 square miles where Rancocas Creek meets the Delaware River. The municipal building is at 900 Chester Avenue.
History. Delran was created in 1880 when Cinnaminson Township was split in two. The name is a contraction of Delaware and Rancocas, the two waterways it sits between.
Neighborhoods. Bridgeboro was earlier called Draw Bridge and then Toll Bridge; a ferry crossed the creek there from 1749. Cambridge and Fairview began as small hamlets.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the Delran Township construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
