About Cinnaminson
At a glance. Cinnaminson is a Burlington County township of 17,064 people (2020 census). Town Hall is at 1621 Riverton Road.
History. The state created Cinnaminson Township in 1860 by dividing Chester Township. The name comes from the Lenni-Lenape, whose word for their hunting grounds here meant sweetwater.
Places to know. The Phillips School was built in the 1890s as a one-room school for African American students; the Burlington County Footlighters theater group bought the building in 2000. The Moravian Church was consecrated in 1863. Trinity AME Church, founded in 1873, is the main remnant of the Wrightsville community.
Schools. The township lists Cinnaminson Public Schools, Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School and Westfield Friends School.
Library. The Cinnaminson Library, part of the Burlington County Library System, is at 1619 Riverton Road.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the Cinnaminson Township construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
