About Haddon Heights
At a glance. Haddon Heights is a Camden County borough of 7,495 people (2020 census) covering about 1.6 square miles, with the ZIP code 08035. It was incorporated in 1904 and grew as an early railroad suburb with tree-shaded streets and Colonial Revival, Queen Anne and Foursquare homes.
Schools. Haddon Heights School District runs four schools from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Haddon Heights Junior/Senior High School also enrolls students from Barrington and Lawnside.
Getting around. Interstate 295 runs along the south side, with Routes 168 and 41 on either edge. NJ Transit buses 400 and 403 go to Philadelphia, and PATCO stations in Westmont and Haddonfield are nearby.
Places to know. The downtown grew up around the old railroad station on Station Avenue.
Selling a home. Haddon Heights requires a residential certificate of continued occupancy for any change of tenant, use or owner (transfers between close family members are exempt). The zoning and property maintenance official checks inside for unpermitted apartments, finished basements, decks and pools, and outside for weeds, drainage, sidewalks and trees, and answers within 10 business days. New Jersey also requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
