About Collingswood
At a glance. Collingswood is a Camden County borough of 14,186 people (2020 census) on just under two square miles. It was incorporated in 1888 and is run by a three-member board of commissioners. Its ZIP codes are 08107 and 08108.
Schools. Collingswood Public Schools serves the borough, and Collingswood High School teaches grades 9 through 12.
Getting around. The Collingswood PATCO station puts the borough a short ride from Philadelphia. Haddon Avenue is the main street, and U.S. Routes 30 and 130 cross the borough.
Places to know. Knight Park is the borough's central green space. The downtown along Haddon Avenue is a designated commercial historic district, and a Saturday farmers market sets up beside the PATCO line in season.
Annual events. The May Fair has been held since 1979, and Porchfest brings dozens of bands to front porches each September.
Selling a home. Collingswood requires a resale inspection whenever a property is sold, focused on sidewalks, driveways and other concrete. Commercial units, and apartments in buildings with three or more units, also need an inspection between tenants. The borough's Fire Prevention and Inspection Bureau on Haddon Avenue handles both. New Jersey also requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
