About Mount Ephraim
At a glance. Mount Ephraim is a Camden County borough of 4,651 people (2020 census), a few minutes from Philadelphia.
History. Mount Ephraim began as a colonial settlement. The borough says it grew popular because of Ephraim Albertson, who owned the Public House, also called the Old Tavern, a meeting place at Black Horse Pike and Kings Highway from 1800 to 1825.
Places to know. Borough Hall is at 121 South Black Horse Pike. The fire department is at 200 Bell Road.
Schools. Mount Ephraim Public Schools run Mary Bray Elementary School, for pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, and Raymond W. Kershaw Middle School, for grades 5 to 8. High school students go to Audubon High School.
Getting around. Interstate 76 passes through the borough, which also holds part of the I-295 interchange. NJ Transit's 400 bus runs to Philadelphia, and the 457 runs between Camden and the Moorestown Mall.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the Mount Ephraim borough construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
