About Voorhees
At a glance. Voorhees is a Camden County township of 31,069 people (2020 census) covering about 11.6 square miles, with the ZIP code 08043. It was created in 1899 from part of Waterford Township and is governed by a five-member township committee.
Neighborhoods. Communities within the township include Echelon, Kirkwood, Kresson, Osage and Glendale.
Schools. Voorhees Township Public Schools teaches students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. High school students attend the Eastern Camden County Regional High School District.
Getting around. PATCO's Ashland station serves Voorhees, and Interstate 295 and Route 70 are reached through neighboring Cherry Hill.
Places to know. Voorhees Town Center occupies the former Echelon Mall site. Virtua Voorhees Hospital and the Philadelphia Flyers' training center are also in the township.
Selling a home. In Voorhees, the smoke detector inspection for a home sale or rental is done by the township Zoning Department, not the fire department. The form is the Residential Resale or Rental Application on the township website. New Jersey also requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant.
