About Bellmawr
At a glance. Bellmawr is a Camden County borough of 11,707 people (2020 census) covering about 3.1 square miles along Little Timber Creek and Big Timber Creek.
History. Bellmawr was incorporated as a borough in 1926 from part of the former Centre Township. It is named for Ernest C. Bell, who owned and ran Bell Farm. Hessian troops crossed Harrison's mill dam here on their way to the Battle of Red Bank, and part of the Battle of Gloucester was fought on land in the borough.
Getting around. Interstate 295, Interstate 76 and Route 42 meet in Bellmawr, and Kings Highway runs through the borough.
Library. The Anthony P. Infanti Bellmawr Branch of the Camden County Library is at 35 East Browning Road.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant.
