About Buena
At a glance. Buena is an Atlantic County borough of 4,501 people (2020 census).
Neighborhoods. The borough takes in three places with their own post offices and histories: Buena, Landisville and Minotola. Landisville's post office dates to 1871, Buena's to 1889 and Minotola's to 1897.
History. The area was part of Buena Vista Township until October 10, 1949, when 7.9 square miles were incorporated as the borough. The name comes from the 1847 Battle of Buena Vista in the Mexican-American War.
Places to know. The St. Padre Pio Shrine was established in the Landisville section in 2002. The borough held its first Buena Day in 1999 at Bruno Melini Park.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the Buena borough construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
