About Woodbury
At a glance. Woodbury is a city of 9,963 people (2020 census) covering about 2.1 square miles, and the county seat of Gloucester County. It was incorporated as a city in 1871, and its ZIP codes are 08096 and 08097.
Schools. Woodbury Public Schools serves the city, with Woodbury Junior-Senior High School for grades 6 through 12.
Getting around. Route 45, known in town as Broad Street and Mantua Avenue, is the main road through the city.
Places to know. The Broad Street Historic District includes the Gloucester County Courthouse and blocks of historic buildings. Inspira Health, the regional hospital network, is based in Woodbury.
Selling a home. Woodbury's Housing Department must inspect a home and issue a certificate of occupancy before it is sold, and before a rental gets a new tenant. Allow ten business days to get an inspection appointment; inspections run Monday through Thursday. New Jersey also requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
