About North Wildwood
At a glance. North Wildwood is a Cape May County city of 3,621 people (2020 census). City Hall is at 901 Atlantic Avenue.
History. The city's historical markers recall the Anglesea Rail Road and the Hotel Anglesea, boardwalks built in 1904, 1912 and 1927, and both the original and the present site of the lighthouse.
Schools. The city lists Margaret Mace Public School and Wildwood High School.
Beaches. North Wildwood is one of five places in New Jersey with free public access to lifeguarded ocean beaches; the others are Atlantic City, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Strathmere. The boardwalk tramcar runs in summer from Cresse Avenue in Wildwood to 16th Avenue in North Wildwood.
Getting around. Route 147 ends in the city and connects west to the Garden State Parkway. New Jersey Avenue, County Route 621, runs south toward Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. NJ Transit buses 313 and 315 run to Philadelphia, 319 to New York and 552 to Atlantic City.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the North Wildwood construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
