About Rosenhayn
At a glance. Rosenhayn is a community in Deerfield Township, Cumberland County, with 1,150 people in the 2020 census.
History. Joseph W. Morton planned and laid out Rosenhayn after the Civil War, copying the design of Vineland. It was one of several communities planned in the late 1800s for Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, along with Brotmanville, Carmel and Norma. Rosenhayn's synagogue, built in 1898, is one of fewer than 100 surviving 19th-century synagogue buildings in the United States.
Schools. Younger students attend the Deerfield Township School District. High school students are zoned to the Cumberland Regional School District.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask your township's construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
