About Pennsville
At a glance. Pennsville is a Salem County township of 12,684 people (2020 census) covering about 24.6 square miles along the Delaware River, with the ZIP code 08070. It is one of New Jersey's original townships from 1798 and is governed by a five-member township committee.
Neighborhoods. Communities within the township include Deepwater, Penn Beach, Fort Mott, Churchtown and Harrisonville.
Schools. The Pennsville School District serves the township, and Pennsville Memorial High School is its high school.
Getting around. The Delaware Memorial Bridge to Delaware begins near Deepwater. Interstate 295, the New Jersey Turnpike, U.S. Routes 40 and 130 and Route 49 all reach the township.
Places to know. Fort Mott State Park preserves a coastal defense fort on the river, and Riverview Beach Park traces its history back to 1914.
Selling a home. New Jersey requires a certificate for working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and a portable fire extinguisher before a one- or two-family home gets a new owner or tenant. Ask the Pennsville Township construction office whether anything else is checked before a sale. Rules change, so check with the town before listing.
