Corn mazes, hayrides and pick-your-own patches from Cherry Hill to Cape May, sorted by county.

It's October. You need a pumpkin, the kids need to run around a field, and somebody in the car is already asking about cider donuts. Here's where to go, county by county.

Camden County. Springdale Farm Market in Cherry Hill is the easy one: hayrides out to the pumpkin patch, a corn maze and an enchanted forest walk.

Gloucester County. This is pumpkin country, and Mullica Hill is the capital. Four farms in one town:

  • Creamy Acres Farm: corn maze, pumpkins, wagon and train rides
  • Mood's Farm Market: pick your own pumpkins and apples, a hayride and a corn maze
  • Hill Creek Farms: apples, pumpkins and tractor rides
  • Heritage Station: apples, pumpkins and hayrides at the Heritage family's farm and winery

Also in Gloucester: Duffield's Farm Market in Sewell (corn maze, wagon rides, apples), Dalton Farms in Swedesboro (corn maze, plus sunflowers you can cut), The McCann's Farm in Monroeville, and Exley's in Sewell and Franklinville.

Burlington County. Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford runs wagon rides to the pumpkin fields and the apple orchard, with a corn maze and weekend harvest festivals. Tickets are cheaper online. Indian Acres Tree Farm, also in Medford, has two mazes. Johnson's Locust Hall Farm is in Jobstown, Honey Hound Orchards is in Columbus, and Taylor's Riverside Farm in Cinnaminson is a low-key farm stand if you just want the pumpkin without the production.

Atlantic County. R and J Farm in Galloway has a corn maze and a pumpkin patch. On October nights the maze turns haunted.

Cumberland County. Muzzarelli Farms in Vineland runs its corn maze through Halloween.

Salem County. Coombs Barnyard in Elmer has pumpkins, a corn maze, hayrides and farm animals. Or do it the fancy way: the Woodstown Central Railroad runs a pumpkin train. You ride out, pick a pumpkin and come back.

Cape May County. Rea's Farm Market in West Cape May has pumpkins and hayrides through October.

Two things before you load the car. Hours change week to week and one rainy day can close a field, so check the farm's website or Facebook page that morning. And sunny October Saturdays get packed. Earlier is better.
