Every South Jersey town picks its own hours, and most announce in mid-October. Here's how it works and where to check.
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, October 31. No school the next morning, which every kid in South Jersey figured out weeks ago.
Here's what trips people up every year: New Jersey doesn't set trick-or-treat hours. Your town does. That's why your cousin in Cherry Hill and your coworker in Vineland never have the same answer.
Most towns announce in mid-October. We're tracking them and adding each one as it's announced, with a link to the announcement so you can see it for yourself: southjersey.today/halloween
Until your town says so, past years are a decent hint. A lot of Atlantic County towns have gone with 6 to 8 PM. Much of Cumberland County has done 4 to 7 PM. Cherry Hill has used 3 to 7 PM, and Haddonfield 2 to 6 PM. But a Saturday Halloween can change things, so treat those as a guess, not a plan.
A few towns skip set hours completely and leave it up to parents. Pennsville has done it that way.
One date that doesn't move: Ocean City's Halloween parade is always the Thursday before Halloween, rain or shine. This year that's October 29.
