About Lower Alloways Creek

At a glance. Lower Alloways Creek is a Salem County township of 1,717 people (2020 census) covering 72.6 square miles, more than a third of it water. Much of the township is marsh and wetlands that migratory birds depend on. Township offices are in Hancocks Bridge.

Places to know. The Hancock House was the site of an early-morning Revolutionary War massacre on March 21, 1778. The Alloways Creek Friends Meeting House was built in 1756.
